Emblem and Motto of West Java

Symbol of the Government of West Java Province oval, take the form of a shield used by armies in ancient times (first). Middle section shows the image of kujang (cleaver) which became the subject image. "Kujang" is a versatile tool that is considered typical weapon Sundanese people. On one side of the kujang There are five holes that symbolize the five basic staple countries' Pancasila ".

On the left and right side of the picture "kujang" there are rice and cotton thread. Rice symbolizes the staple food of West Java community. The rice strands consisting of 17 grains, represents the date of the independence of the Republic of Indonesia. On the right is a picture of cotton which consists of 8 pieces. The number 8 is the epitome of August, or eighth month, when the proclamation echoed. These three images are shown in green on the basis that, as a symbol of fertility in West Java.



Coat mountains that cut the middle, illustrating the largest part of the region of West Java which consists of mountainous areas. At the bottom there is a picture of two white lines wavy background with a blue base color. Wavy white lines with blue background symbolizes the river, canal, channel, and the sea that characterizes natural.


In addition to the natural wealth, West Java has the form of paddy farms, fields, and the vast estate. Natural wealth is expressed in the form of pictures of the boxes.


Among shaped image "white line" and "boxes" are the epitome of the dam, dams, and aqueducts. The third building of the water is the key to exploit the natural resources of fertile West Java towards the welfare of society, as the motto printed at the bottom of the "Gemah Ripah Repeh Rapih". Gemah ripah means fertile prosperous, enough food and clothing. Repeh Rapih means harmonious, peaceful , safe, and prosperous.


Bebasa meaning of the motto of the overall area of West Java is stated that West Java is a wealthy and prosperous fertile and inhabited by many residents who live in harmony and peace.
